modules
Harvey-Coleman provides concentration technologies and kits that aid in the
detection of microorganisms from liquid samples.
Our primary product lines utilize inter-capillary capture of
organisms via hollow fibre membranes.
Once concentrated within our modules, microorganisms are easily recovered
from the membranes in just a few minutes without the need for any specialized equipment.
Our products are typically applied to the sample preparation stages of waterborne pathogen assays but also
include enhanced sterility testing for food and beverage quality control programs.
TECHNOLOGY
Our technology relies upon specially designed filtration modules containing hollow fibre membranes.
Fluid enters the module where filtration begins from within the tube side of hollow fibre membranes.
During filtration, organisms are retained within the various hollow fibre voids.
After filtration, concentrated
organisms are recovered from the hollow fibres using syringes containing an elution buffer.
Our current offerings include filtration modules that handle from 1 ml to over 10,000 liters
of water filtration capacity.
Recovery of organisms (Elution) can be achieved with just a few milliliters of buffer
and can be performed in less than five minutes.
Microfiltration technologies allow
for samples to be concentrated by greater than 50,000 times normal levels.
